Free Fire India will be made exclusively available for download in India starting on September 5 in Noida, according to a launch announcement made by Singaporean company Garena, a publisher and producer of global online games. According to Garena, Free Fire India includes exclusive features and content to promote a fun, secure, and healthy gaming environment.
In the presence of Simon Wong, Singapore’s High Commissioner to India, the news was made at a launch ceremony by Gang Ye, a co-founder of Garena, and Darshan Hiranandani, a co-founder and chairman of Yotta Infrastructure (“Yotta”).
MS Dhoni, a legend in Indian cricket, has been named the new brand ambassador for Free Fire India by Garena. Dhoni will be honored as the first Indian athlete to appear in a video game as a playable character, according to the company.
The Uttar Pradesh government and Garena and Yotta signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) earlier this year to advance the growth of esports in India.
“Garena’s launch of Free Fire India and commitment to localizing and developing the local esports ecosystem is testament to the vibrancy of the mobile games and esports space in India, and to India’s potential for global leadership in this area,” Wong said. I anticipate further collaborations between India and Singapore in the esports, entertainment, and digital media sectors.
