The space exploration-themed sci-fi role-playing game Starfield from Bethesda has recently started its global early access phase. Every user of Starfield’s Early Access is plunging headfirst into the game and spending hours upon hours in this new universe. In a recent interview, Xbox CMO Jerret West provided some information about the game in advance of its release.

Jerret West, the Xbox Chief Market Officer, talked extensively about Starfield in an interview with GameIndustry.Biz, referring to it as a “comet launch” and a game that will be “critically important” for Xbox Game Pass. The first thing West says is that he sees Starfield as a “comet game launch” because titles like this only appear once every “few years.” games that are becoming more popular among “broader consumers and consumer conversations” as well as the gaming business.

Since it ultimately comes down to the player’s “preference,” West claimed that Starfield is “certainly” anticipated to “drive Game Pass subscriptions” and “base game purchases” for Game Pass. The “Starfield Wrap, the Starfield controller,” which will “bind the console ecosystem together to Starfield,” are just a couple of the “creative executions” that Xbox has devised to connect Game Pass and Starfield.

West continues by stating that “Starfield is critically important for something like Game Pass” and that there is “no question” about the fact that it will bring in new users to the platform. Players who initially subscribe to Bethesda’s RPG will eventually discover and play other genres of games that they wouldn’t otherwise spend money on.

Starfield Reached 350,000 Twitch Viewers Hours Before Launch

According to PCGamer, hours before the early access launch, a large number of spectators had congregated on multiple streams to check out the highly anticipated game. This indicates that Starfield’s buzz has reached a new level. Before the game was even streamed, there were an average of about 350,000 and a peak of 500,000 watchers.

The modding community has always enjoyed Bethesda games because they are designed with mod support in mind. In a recent interview with the Spanish website Vandal (conducted by GameSpot), Pete Hines, the head of publishing at Bethesda, revealed that console and PC mods for Starfield will be released.

Todd Howard, director of Starfield and executive producer at Bethesda, continues by saying that they “hope to see more make a career out of it” because the modding community has supported Bethesda for “20 years” and has been a big supporter. The availability of Starfield mods has not yet been announced, although they will eventually be made available to players on PC and Xbox Series X and S consoles at a later time.
