Subscribers to Nintendo Switch Online can get some brand-new free prizes inspired by Detective Pikachu Returns. New profile icons modeled after the master detective himself make up the freebies in question. Five different photos of Detective Pikachu are available in the first wave, which was released today and costs 10 Platinum Points apiece. Additionally, five other frames and backgrounds are available, each costing five Platinum Points. Through October 26th, more waves will be released every Thursday at 6 p.m. PT. Fans will have to wait and see whether subsequent waves contain additional game characters like Tim Goodman and Growlithe.

Release Date for Detective Pikachu Returns

On October 6, Detective Pikachu Returns will launch on the Nintendo Switch. Detective Pikachu Returns, a follow-up to the 2019 3DS game, features Detective Pikachu and Tim Goodman once more cooperating to solve crimes. Tim Goodman’s father and Pikachu’s former partner, Harry Goodman, disappeared, and the two are still looking for answers about what happened. The Pokemon Company has kept the details of the tale under wraps, but they have already made it clear that the game will not conclude in the same manner as the movie.

Yasunori Yanagisawa, the game’s director, spoke with ComicBook.com earlier this month. Regarding a hypothetical third game in the series, Yanagisawa was questioned during the interview. The game, according to Yanagisawa, will provide “a nice cutoff point with Tim and Detective Pikachu’s story, but there is a desire to grow Detective Pikachu’s story.” That suggests that the game’s conclusion won’t be as definite as the live-action movie’s was. Fans won’t have to wait long, thankfully, since the game will be released the following week.

Game Boy Advance titles available on the Nintendo Switch online

There are other things for Nintendo Switch Online customers to look forward to today in addition to the new Detective Pikachu Returns symbols. A legendary Game Boy Advance title, Kirby & the Amazing Mirror, was also made available tonight. The game is only the 12th one to be made available on the GBA app for Nintendo Switch Online. Kirby & the Amazing Mirror, like all other GBA games accessible through Nintendo Switch Online, is only available to those with the Expansion Pack tier. The game offered co-op for up to four players when it first launched.

On Switch, the co-op is still available, but gamers can now play it locally or online. Given that Kirby & the Amazing Mirror is now accessible via the app, Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land is probably just around the corner. The GBA version of Kirby’s Adventure, which is also accessible through Nintendo Switch Online, was released in 2002.
