In the year 2021, Netflix entered the mobile gaming market. It just made an unexpected appearance with a new app that turns your iPhone into a controller for video games. The issue with utilizing your smartphone as a controller was that the studio’s game collection was only available on iOS and Android, but this will change so soon.

A select group of consumers in Canada and the UK are receiving a limited beta test of Netflix. The business wants games to be playable on all platforms where Netflix is available, including TVs, laptops, and mobile devices. On compatible PC and Mac browsers through Netflix.com, games on Netflix will also be available for beta testing in the coming weeks.

What will be tested, then? There are now two games available: Molehew’s Mining Adventure, a gem-hunting arcade game, and Oxenfree from Night School Studio. You can download the Netflix game controller app from the App Store and use your iPhone as the controller if you’re one of the fortunate few with beta access. Although the software isn’t now available for Android users, it might do so soon.

In order to improve the user experience moving forward, Netflix claims that this trial run is all about putting their game streaming technology and controller to the test. Netflix is preparing for the future of TV gaming. Games will be accessible on a variety of Netflix partners’ products, including Samsung Smart TVs, LG TVs, Roku TVs and devices, Chromecast with Google TV, Amazon Fire TV streaming media players, and Walmart ONN.
