Think & Built Bigger Faster Better

The innovator of cutting-edge 3D perception technology for XR, VoxelSensors, proudly announces the appointment of two seasoned business veterans. This tactical choice supports the management of the company in its goal to expand in the XR market, particularly in the USA and Asia. VoxelSensors announced €5 million in seed funding in May, and the company is currently preparing for the following round of funding. On August 30 and 31, VoxelSensors will exhibit their Andromeda (gen 1) Evaluation Kit at AWE Asia in Singapore at booth #D3.

Youssef Benmokhtar (USA) joins the advisory board, and Tim Droz (USA) joins the company as an independent member of the board of directors. Their expertise will lead the organization to new heights, supporting growth and international engagements. They have extensive experience in semiconductors, 3D sensing, systems architecture, natural interface, customer engagement, and XR wearables.

Tim Droz joined VoxelSensors’ board of directors recently as an independent board member, bringing to the group his considerable leadership expertise in the fields of consumer electronics, perception engineering, and executive management. Mr. Droz has held senior technical management positions at Meta Reality Labs, Sony DepthSensing Solutions, and Canesta (acquired by Microsoft), where he significantly contributed to the development of camera and depth technologies. Mr. Droz has expertise in AR/VR systems, 2D and 3D cameras, imaging, and depth sensors. He graduated from North Carolina State University with an MSEE in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

“VoxelSensors’ commitment to pushing the limits of sensor technology and depth subsystems nicely complements my passion for game-changing innovations. I’m excited to work together with the great VoxelSensors team to build ground-breaking solutions and take advantage of the exciting prospects that lie ahead.

Youssef Benmokhtar, a business development executive with extensive experience in the consumer electronics and mobile industries, recently joined VoxelSensors as a member of the advisory board. He is currently the CEO of GelSight, a well-known US business that specializes in tactile sensing technology, and he previously held important roles as the SVP of Business Development at Magic Leap and DigitalOptics Corporation. Mr. Benmokhtar plays a critical role in creating beneficial connections with pertinent clients and investors in our business by drawing on his broad experience. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in industrial engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology and the Georgia Institute of Technology, respectively.

For XR to succeed, lowering system-level power usage is essential. The SPAES (Switching Pixels® Active Event Sensor) from VoxelSensors is a cutting-edge 3D perception architecture that satisfies OEMs’ needs for low-latency and power-efficient perception systems. In order to enable low power, low latency spatial mapping, anchoring, segmentation, and natural interaction in XR, it replaces power-hungry old frame-based visual pipelines with an effective sequential 3D data flow.

“As a seasoned professional in the 3D sensing industry, I perceive a growing momentum and keen interest surrounding VoxelSensors’ elegant approach to addressing the challenge of delivering low power with low latency for 3D perception,” said Andre Miodezky, President of VoxelSensors. The amazing people who have joined our business on the mission to revolutionize the 3D perception sector are truly an honor.
