Meta’s Threads app now has an online version, but it lacks the following functionalities.
Threads can now be posted, liked, and commented on from your desktop browser.

Meta has announced the release of an online version of its Threads program. Users can use the web app to post, like, reshare, and comment on Threads, as well as peruse their feed and navigate between tabs. According to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, it will be available in the next days.

Elon Musk’s Twitter has come under fire for its moderation practices and algorithmic biases, therefore Meta is attempting to compete with it using Threads. Users can share their thoughts and interests on Threads, which claims to provide a platform that is more democratic and transparent. Early in July, the app was released, and it immediately surpassed ChatGPT’s record-breaking debut from the previous year by amassing 100 million users. Due to data protection laws, the app is still not accessible in the European Union.

Though not all of the functionality of the mobile app will be available on Threads’ website. Users won’t be able to access some sophisticated settings through the online app, change their profile, or send messages to other users on Instagram. According to Christine Pai, a representative for Meta, the web app is designed to provide users who prefer utilizing social media on desktop browsers with a minimal degree of functionality.

According to various analytics companies, Threads is experiencing a fall in user engagement during the time of the web app’s release. Meta aspires for the web app to draw in more people and keep them engaged with the system. Additionally, the firm is trying to enhance the search feature and expand the categories and topics available to users on Threads.
