A new tool being tested by DeepMind, the tech company’s artificial intelligence division, has been dubbed a “personal life coach” in the near future.
According to documents obtained by the New York Times, the initiative will use generative AI to carry out at least 21 various kinds of personal and professional tasks, including life counsel, ideas, planning instructions, and tutoring hints.
The assistant’s capacity to respond intelligently to personal queries about people’s lives is also being evaluated.
A difficult personal query about how to approach telling a close friend who is having a destination wedding that you cannot afford to go was one example of a prompt a user might one day ask the chatbot.
According to reports, the tool has an idea-generation capability that will offer users options or recommendations based on various circumstances. It can also give customers nutrition and exercise programs, as well as train or enhance abilities like jogging.
In the midst of mounting calls for legislation and regulations to stop the rapid growth of AI, AI specialists have issued warnings about the risks of chatbots and there have been ethical questions regarding the interactions that humans will have with chatbots.
He continued, “It is of course important to take a responsible approach to building these relationships between humans and AI systems to ensure that advice given to a person is safe and sound and in line with what a professional would advise.”
The Google Researcher’s Brain team and DeepMind, two organizations that conduct AI research, joined to form Google DeepMind earlier this year.
Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and Alphabet, wrote in a blog post in April announcing the merger: “To ensure the bold and responsible development of general AI, we’re creating a unit that will help us build more capable systems more safely and responsibly.”
A representative for Google DeepMind stated: “We have worked with many partners for a long time to review our research and products throughout Google, which is an important step in developing secure and beneficial technology. Many of these evaluations are ongoing at any given time. The evaluation results in isolated samples is not indicative of our product roadmap.
