Boris Mergell will join the Automotive Board in this capacity as well. He will answer directly to Philipp von Hirschheydt, the current Executive Board member for the group sector Automotive and former head of User Experience.
As of September 1, 2023, Boris Mergell will lead Continental Automotive’s User Experience (UX) business division. In order to create cutting-edge experiences for the future of mobility, he will spearhead the development of futuristic display solutions, head-up displays, and UX assets in the form of software functionalities.
Boris Mergell will join the Automotive Board in this capacity as well. He will answer directly to Philipp von Hirschheydt, the current Executive Board member for the group sector Automotive and former head of User Experience. From 2022 to 2023, Philipp von Hirschheydt served as the business area’s leader. He has retained these duties as the Automotive chairman.
Boris Mergell earned his doctorate in 2003 after completing his studies in physics in Mainz, Germany; Umea, Sweden; and Paris, France. He has held a number of jobs over his 20 years with Continental in research, product development, and material development for light and heavy truck tires. Boris Mergell most recently served as Tires’ Senior Vice President of Research and Development, where he was in charge of all R&D initiatives for Continental Tire.
