Think & Built Bigger Faster Better

In 2016, Meta released the scaled-back version of their Messenger Lite app. For Android smartphones with fewer processing power, the business released the Messenger Lite app. The app was then made available for all Android cellphones by the firm. But Meta has now made the decision to discontinue the Messenger Lite software.

The Messenger Lite software will no longer be available starting in September, according to Meta. Users of Messenger Lite are being informed that the app will no longer be available after September 18, according to 9to5Google. Messenger Lite is being discontinued and won’t be accessible after September 18.

Additionally, the company has stated that users need not worry about their chat history because it will be transferred to the Messenger app. “We know how important your chats are to you, so everything from Messenger Lite is still available in Messenger.”

Meta Messenger discontinues support for SMS:
In the meantime, SMS support will also be removed from Messenger in September. This month, Meta stated that it would stop supporting SMS in Messenger. When you update the Messenger app, SMS messages will no longer be accessible as of September 28. This has been confirmed by the company.

When you update your app after September 28, 2023, you won’t be able to send and receive SMS messages sent by your cellular network using Messenger if you use Messenger as your main SMS messaging app for your Android smartphone. The new default messaging app on your phone will still allow you to send and receive SMS messages through your mobile network and view your SMS message history.

Your phone’s default messaging app, such as the Android Messages app, will receive all of your SMS messages if you don’t select a different default messaging app, according to Facebook.
