By setting the goal of obtaining 2 million flat-rate connections globally by the end of March 2026, SoftBank Corp. outlined intentions to expand its global IoT business throughout Asia Pacific.

It intends to develop online IoT shops in collaboration with German-based 1NCE and treble its IoT salesforce in the area.

At the moment, SoftBank operates marketing operations in 22 locations throughout nine Asia-Pacific nations.

SoftBank will “collaborate with strong business partners like 1NCE” and use experience gained in offering IoT services in Japan to create the APAC business, according to Daichi Nozaki, SVP in charge of its global business.

SoftBank stated that it will also look at introducing smart meter services. In an effort to diversify beyond its primary telecoms business. In 2022, the operator acquired shares in 1NCE with the goal of diversifying away from its main telecoms operation. The operator then started offering its services in 19 APAC markets.
