GESS Dubai gives teachers access to tools and resources that fit the demands of the contemporary classroom and change the way pupils learn. The GESS Education Awards program runs concurrently with the exhibition and conference. It recognizes and honors exceptional educational resources, services, and individuals in addition to the top educational institutions and the most committed educators. The GESS Education Awards are a mark of excellence that are intended to promote industry-wide improvements
in the quality of educational services and products. With the help of the augmented reality maker app Sandbox AR, educators and students can design, share, and even live in virtual worlds. Students build a virtual world that they can explore and share by laying a stage on a level surface and filling it with models to resemble a sandbox.
Sandbox AR consists of:
- Hundreds of models covering science, nature, history, the built environment, and more to add
to a sandbox - A life-size mode that allows students to enter their virtual world and scale up their sandbox.
- Prefabricated sandboxes with themes including space exploration, ancient Egypt, building roads,
and more - Educators can use pre-made, free lessons to help guide the integration of augmented reality
into their lessons.
Chief Product Officer of Discovery Education Pete Weir expressed his gratitude to the GESS Education Awards judges for this honor. We think that immersive learning opportunities, such as those made possible by Sandbox AR, can be extremely important in bridging the gap between classroom instruction and real-world application. This acknowledgment validates our approach to augmented and virtual reality, and it will motivate our skilled team to keep coming up with cutting-edge materials that are simple to incorporate into lessons in the classroom.
