The realization of artificial general intelligence will occur within the next ten years, according to Masayoshi Son, CEO of SoftBank. Artificial general intelligence, or AGI, is the term used to describe a system that is capable of outperforming humans in nearly every domain and has traits like consciousness and common sense common to humans.
While noting the advancements achieved by numerous generative AI systems like ChatGPT, Son stated during a speech at the SoftBank World corporate conference that he believes AGI would be ten times more intelligent than the sum of all human intelligence.
In June this year, Son had said that he is a ‘heavy user’ of OpenAI’s ChatGPT and informed that he was speaking to OpenAI CEO Sam Altman ‘almost everyday’.
“I am chatting with ChatGPT everyday – I am a heavy user,” Masayoshi Son told the shareholders of SoftBank Group’s telecom subsidiary in June.
