The metaverse is it dead? The marketing for it is, at the very least. Vishal Shah, VP of the metaverse at Meta, has also verified this. Fintechs in the metaverse are trying to recover from a rough patch, similar to how cryptocurrency itself is doing, and a number of senior tech and product experts are still enthusiastic about it.
Cyril Forté is one such individual. Forté has a long career in the financial industry. He spent more than ten years at HSBC where he advanced to the position of lead product manager. He thereafter relocated to Allianz, where he spent the next three and a half years as the company’s global head of digital products, before leaving in February of this year.
He joins The Sandbox, a platform for metaverse gaming featuring NFT and blockchain-based monetization features. He is in charge of DAOs (decentralized autonomous organizations), which have gained popularity on the blockchain thanks to businesses like RaidGuild and offer a substitute for independent developers looking to work for themselves rather than an established company.
As a product manager, Forté has excelled in UI and UX, saying that in his previous senior jobs, he focused on leading UI and UX developers. Many in the cryptocurrency community have called attention to this as a source of worry, including former HSBC MD Paul Mischenko, who claims that the existing user interface for cryptocurrencies is “too cumbersome to interact with and use; work needs to be done on the various UIs and wallets.”
