Today, Dentsu Group Inc. revealed that it had acquired RCKT, a preeminent German brand, communications, and creative agency focused on digital first.

With the addition of more than 80 talented individuals, Dentsu Creative—the company’s only international creative network outside of Japan—will help RCKT grow its clientele in Germany and enhance its local capabilities with knowledge and services in areas like creative content, digital marketing, employer branding, UI & UX, customer experience, and communication strategy.

In 2015, the thriving and artistic start-up culture in Berlin gave birth to RCKT, which has since developed into one of Germany’s top digital-first creative firms. Karolin Hewelt, Lisa Teicher, and Nils Seger, the company’s founding team, are in charge, and they work with prestigious customers and brands including the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Protection, Metro, Schneider Electric, Henkel, Pinterest, Babbel, Pfizer, Hochland, and Klarna.

Dentsu Creative’s stated goal of transforming brands and businesses via the force of “Modern Creativity” is completely in line with RCKT’s desire to create art that matters. It’s a perfect fit with Dentsu Creative’s ideas that Create Culture, Change Society, and Invent the Future because it has special expertise in sustainability, employer branding and employee experience, and product innovation
RCKT will continue to be known by its current name while going through the integration process, changing to “RCKT, a Dentsu Creative Company” right away.

They will collaborate closely with the current Dentsu Creative Germany team to create combined go-to-market strategies that will both support the network across the region and accelerate growth across all of Dentsu’s businesses in the local market.

The purchase brings to fruition Densu’s plan to provide incorporated client solutions throughout the whole customer lifecycle. With an increased creative offering that fuels its innate deep media knowledge, UX/UI know-how, and competence in digital transformation, Dentsu Germany now provides a potent array of capabilities. For the brands it supports, dentsu can provide real business results by collaborating across creative, media, and CXM.

RCKT joins Dentsu Creative, which includes market-leading Dentsu Creative agencies in the EMEA area, as well as a network of more than 3,200 different talents in Dentsu’s DACH organization. With 9,000 employees spread over 46 markets and six agency of the year awards in 2023 in the Netherlands, Portugal, Poland, Italy, and Nigeria, Dentsu Creative is a global brand.

“We are taking a decisive step to establish a comprehensive and scaled creative offering for our clients in the German market, so we are thrilled to welcome this young, digital-first creative agency to the dentsu family as an essential part of our Modern Creative offer,” added Karin Zimmermann, CEO DACH & Germany. They are a wonderful match in terms of strategic mindset, people and customer focus, and agile ways of working because we have successfully worked on clients together in the past. From the beginning, there was a natural chemistry between my leadership team and Karolin, Lisa, and Nils. We can turn Germany into a hub for the network’s creative community with the support of RCKT, which is a dynamic and stimulating addition to Densu.

“In recent years, we have seen a radical shift in the standards of creativity, campaigns, and communication,” said Karolin Hewelt, co-founder and managing director of RCKT. We have a response to this transformation that resonates in the marketplace as an interdisciplinary creative firm. We concur with Dentsu Creative’s definition of Modern Creativity, and by working together, we can more effectively advertise our solutions. We have discovered, via our work with the entire dentsu network, a setting that appreciates and fosters entrepreneurship, innovation, and a digital approach to creative excellence.
