IT behemoth Wipro has partnered with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi to launch a new Center of Excellence in Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI). The Yardi School of Artificial Intelligence (ScAI) at IIT Delhi is home to the Wipro CoE on Generative AI, which will promote fundamental and practical research, develop talent, and advance the state of the art in this crucial area. As part of the Wipro ai360 ecosystem, the cooperation is a component of the company’s $1 billion commitment to driving AI-led innovation.

Chief technology officer at Wipro Subha Tatavarti says, “This collaboration will not only improve our research and development capabilities in cutting-edge fields like generative AI, but it will also put us in touch with a talent pool that will help us connect with and develop cutting-edge solutions to address existing and emerging business problems.” The CoE will serve as an R&D hub, bringing together Wipro researchers with ScAI faculty members and graduate students, to address at-scale real-world problems.

Dr. Ajay Chander, Head of Research and Development at Wipro, said, “Working with the distinguished and diversified faculty of IIT Delhi and its research partner ecosystem will help us realize our goal of engineered prosperity sooner. Teams from Wipro CoE will collaborate to develop cutting-edge solutions utilizing AI, ML (machine learning), and other technologies. According to Professor Mausam, Head of the Yardi School of AI at IIT Delhi, “Through the establishment of this Center of Excellence, our students will gain useful insight into problems of relevance to industry and will learn first-hand how their technical know-how transfers to commercial environments.”
