AI Impact Summit highlights India’s AI growth

New Delhi, India — February 2026: India’s role in the global artificial intelligence (AI) landscape is taking centre stage with the upcoming AI Impact Summit 2026, a major international event that highlights the country’s strategic focus on harnessing AI for economic growth, responsible governance, and inclusive development.

The summit — scheduled from February 16–20 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi — has attracted thousands of registrations from over 100 countries, with governments, startups, industry leaders, and researchers preparing to discuss how AI can deliver real-world impact across sectors.

India’s Vision: Impact, Accessibility, Safety

Union ministers and officials have outlined India’s agenda for the summit, focusing not just on AI innovation but on impact, accessibility, and safety. This approach aims to show how AI can be used to improve everything from public services and healthcare to agriculture and education, particularly in the Global South.

A key part of the summit’s vision is making AI accessible and affordable, building on India’s existing digital infrastructure successes such as UPI and digital public platforms. Efforts include working with tech companies on data centres, safe AI deployment, and partnerships that support local innovation.

Showcasing Indian Capabilities

India is also using the summit to spotlight homegrown AI talent and technology. Preparations include a large startup showcase featuring more than 500 AI startups, reflecting the vibrancy of India’s AI ecosystem and its ability to turn ideas into practical solutions.

Domestic companies and research groups are advancing foundational AI models tailored for Indian languages and local needs, while compute platforms and public-sector AI solutions continue to expand access for researchers, small businesses, and government use cases.

Industry involvement is strong as well, with global and Indian leaders — including representatives from major firms — expected to participate in discussions on responsible AI governance, enterprise adoption, and ethical frameworks.

Global Collaboration and Policy Focus

Beyond technology showcases, the summit serves as a platform for international cooperation on AI policy standards. India is advocating for common guidelines that support safe and responsible AI deployment worldwide, reinforcing its growing influence in the global AI policy arena.

Officials also emphasize the importance of multi-stakeholder dialogue, bringing together policymakers, industry players, and civil society to build frameworks that balance innovation with ethics and public benefit.

A Milestone for India in AI Leadership

The scale and ambition of the AI Impact Summit reflect India’s rapid progress and aspirations in the AI domain — from boosting infrastructure and democratizing access to hosting major international discourse on the future of technology.

As India pushes forward, the summit positions the country as a key global hub for inclusive and impactful AI, balancing technological innovation with social and economic development goals.
