Mankind has been fascinated by artificial intelligence (AI) for many years. It is a complicated and influential subject that has a lot of potential but also many drawbacks. We are rather wary of an intellect outside of our brains even if we know it has the potential to revolutionize our lives.
The development of computing in the 1950s marked the beginning of artificial intelligence, albeit the initial goal was just to build machines that could mimic human intelligence. The cost of leasing a computer in the 1950s might reach $200,000 per month, which was too expensive.
In the 1990s, as machine learning and neural networks gained popularity, the movement gained momentum. APost-2000 saw a boom in AI due to big data and advanced computing capacity. Recent advances in Deep Learning (DL) have further revolutionized the AI industry. Multiple-layer deep learning neural networks have begun to succeed at difficult tasks like image recognition, language translation, etc.
The public release of Chat GPT ignited the public and industry’s curiosity in the most uncontrollable way. For decades, AI technology has been operating covertly and has been the foundation of many of the products we have been using, including Google search and Gmail. The science fiction world of intellect existing independently of the human brain appeared to be becoming closer than ever, if not already existing. AI developments in numerous technical fields started to emerge one by one, exciting and alarming the public as well as scientists and legislators. It is obvious that AI will become more pervasive in society and impact how we live, possibly permanently.
