New record temperature in France: Water
A number of cities and towns across France recorded their highest temperatures on Monday as a heat wave hit the country, the national meteorological office said.

The mercury reached 39.3 Celsius (102.7 Fahrenheit) in Brest on the Atlantic coast in the extreme northwest of the country, compared to the previous record of 35.1 C in 2002.

Saint-Brieuc on the Channel coast jumped to 39.5C, compared to the previous record of 38.1C, while western Nantes recorded 42C and the previous one.
