Soracom, Inc., today announced a partnership with IDEMIA to offer innovative SMBs, SMBs, and enterprises in North America and Europe expanded options for Embedded Universal Integrated Circuit Cards (eUICC) based on DAKOTA SMART eSIM technology from of IDEMIA optimized for IoT.
This GSMA-certified eSIM is designed to specifically meet the needs of IoT devices, including low-end devices with limited memory, performance, and processing capacity. IDEMIA’s eSIM technology has advanced low-power features including suspending, resume, and eDRX, making it more energy efficient for LTE-M/NB-IoT services while supporting all mobile standards from 2G to 5G when available. It is available in standard MFF2 (5 x 6 mm), the ultra-compact plug-in (2 x 2 mm), and chip scale package (CSP) designs, with commercial and industrial grade versions available.
Soracom’s native cloud platform is also designed for the needs of companies and teams building new experiences around connected devices. Soracom’s global connectivity and industry-leading network management tools help lower the total cost of ownership, speed time to market, and provide complete control over every connection in a customer’s IoT fleet.
In addition to standard GSMA remote SIM provisioning functionality, DAKOTA SMART is compatible with the Soracom Subscription Containers multi-IMSI solution, which extends profile management capabilities to any Soracom SIM or eSIM connected to a standard Soracom global data plan. This enables profile switching where multiple profiles can be used without interrupting access to Soracom platform services.
