Dell Alienware X17 R1 Review: Read This Before Spending Rs 2.5 Lakh On This Gaming Laptop
Dell Alienware X17 R1 is priced at Rs 2,49.99 and offers detailed information. But is it the best gaming laptop on the market?
Alienware, a brand owned by Dell, has long been the same gaming device. The company has established itself as a gaming leader over the past two decades, and many gamers are looking to use Alienware gaming machines to take their gaming to the next level. Does the Alienware machine really mean better performance or is it just hype? We will tell you that in this article.

That’s why I’ve been using the Dell Alienware X17 R1 gaming laptop for almost a month as my primary laptop for everything from work to of course gaming. During my laptop run, I played many games on the Alienware X17 R1, including Forza Horizon 5, Call of Duty: Warzone, Flight Simulator, Kerbal Space Program, and more. During my time with the laptop, the Alienware X17 R1 impressed me a bit in many places, and there are a few things about the laptop that I think could be better. In this article, I’ll tell you what I like, what I don’t like about this gaming laptop, and finally, if you should go ahead and spend Rs 2,49,999 on the Dell Alienware X17 R1 Gaming Laptop. Let’s go.

Now, in terms of design, the Alienware X17 R1 looks very cool. The laptop meets the characteristics of “Alienware” and looks like it was taken by a UFO. The laptop is very large with a 17-inch display, and it’s not the slimmest and most portable gaming device out there. However, the Alienware X17 R1 has a design that will catch everyone’s attention. The notebook has this white aluminum finish on the body with a large “17” print on the flap (if you don’t know what notebook it is). and a panel that changes color.
The laptop also has an LED strip that goes through the holes/ports located on the back of the laptop. As I’ve said in my previous reviews, rear ports are a good idea for gaming laptops because they hardly interfere with the user’s hand. You can customize this backlight to change color, stay a certain color, and more. The notebook has holes on the right and left side of the bottom (keyboard) panel and the notebook has an RGB keyboard. The screen is surrounded by thin bezels that are thicker than other gaming laptops but don’t compromise the look a bit.
Overall, the Alienware X17 R1 has one of the best designs of any laptop and looks straight out of a spaceship. The rear ports are nice and Alienware also puts air vents in the back. However, in this design, the back of the laptop can be very hot and it hurts when the user tries to remove the laptop by holding the back. Additionally, the form factor is huge and the laptop is too heavy for anyone who wants to carry it around. The 17-inch form factor makes it even bigger (good for gaming, of course) and the internals is also top-notch, resulting in a very heavy (3KG) laptop with little to no portability.
The Alienware X17 R1 display is a 17.3-inch FHD+ panel with a refresh rate of up to 360 Hz. The display is very good for gamers because it has a high response. The laptop is capable of running games at a speed of 120 FPS (sometimes even more) in Full HD resolution. Now, while this is a very responsive and bright display, the resolution is a bit low on a device that’s too tall. I tested the Alienware X17 R1 with the 2022 Asus ROG Zephyrus M16, and the display details on the Asus ROG Zephyrus M16 are better than either of them, despite being in the same price range. It’s important to note here that this difference is only visible because I’m testing two high-end gaming laptops at the same time. If you’ve owned a laptop other than the ROG Zephyrus M16, you’ll find this display very cool.
Now, while the ROG Zephyrus M16’s display is top-notch in terms of image quality and softness, the Alienware X17 R1 is much more responsive. It’s one of the few laptops that run games at high refresh rates on battery, and during my testing, the Alienware X17 R1 gave me comfortably over 100 FPS, even on battery, which the Asus ROG doesn’t. . Overall, it’s a very good and responsive look. The resolution is small, but that gets you a higher refresh rate, which means the decision is left to the buyer – whether they want a better response than a more detailed view.

The performance of the Alienware X17 R1 is excellent. The unit we received comes with an 11th Gen Intel Core i7 chipset paired with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 GPU with 8GB of VRAM and 32GB of RAM. The laptop proved to be an artistic beast during my time working with it. As mentioned, I played some of the most popular games on the Alienware X17 R1 and the laptop showed no signs of slowing down and was able to run all of these games at the highest graphics settings. and high frame rate (exact numbers vary by screen content).
Of course, gaming is what the laptop does, so it has more focus on gaming. Users can even overclock the GPU and CPU to get the most out of the laptop, and it delivers. However, while these strong performances accelerate, the Alienware X17 R1 runs a bit warmer. Even by gaming laptop standards, this laptop is too hot to use on your lap. I was trying to play Cricket 2022 (nothing difficult) when I put the laptop on my lap and as soon as the GPU came on the laptop started heating up and I couldn’t get it on my lap for more than 2 minutes. max.
