The Punjab Police’s traffic division has inked memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with four organizations to create a state-wide transportation system that is both safer and more effective.
In a ceremony held today at the Punjab Road Safety and Traffic Research Centre in SAS Nagar, under the direction of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Traffic AS Rai, MoUs were signed with renowned businesses such as MapMyIndia, Punjab-based SAFE Society, Gurugram-based Intozi Tech Pvt Ltd, and Jaipur-based Muskaan Foundation.
At the event were Naresh Kumar, founder & CEO of Intozi, CEO-cum-Executive Director of MapMyIndia, Rohan Verma, SAFE Society chairwoman Rupinder Singh, Muskaan Foundation trustee Shantanu Basin, and CEO-cum-Executive Director of MapMyIndia, Rohan Verma.
The development occurs before the ambitious Sadak Surakhya Force (SSF), a specialized police unit devoted to promoting road safety and apprehending offenders, is launched.
According to ADGP AS Rai, these organizations’ combined efforts will open the door for safer roads, effective traffic control, and a better future for the state.
He continued by saying that these businesses will employ cutting-edge scientific techniques to foster a culture of scientific inquiry and knowledge production to improve traffic management and road safety measures. The ADGP claimed that the use of artificial intelligence (AI) would revolutionize how traffic is controlled and accidents are avoided by enhancing road safety and optimizing traffic control inside the state.
The state’s skills in m-policing, e-policing, road safety engineering, traffic management, control, and training within the state police force will all be strengthened by this project, according to ADGP Rai.
