The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority, in partnership with Google Cloud, established the Elevate Program, which provides training in data and AI capabilities to 1,000 women from 29 different nations. The Saudi Press Agency stated on Tuesday that Elevate plans to train more than 25,000 women worldwide in highly technical disciplines within five years.
The program’s initial phase, which began in May, would involve four levels of remote instruction for participants. This will comprise group-based and synchronous learning, self-training modules, recorded lectures, open seminars, virtual courses, and hands-on projects.
The 340 intensive training hours are being delivered in two tracks, one for technical professionals and one for non-specialists, under the supervision of seven male and nine female Saudi trainers. Free training courses will be made available through the initiative in subjects like cloud engineering, data engineering, machine learning engineering, and cloud operations.
300 female technical specialists and 700 female nonspecialists from the following countries are participating in the first phase: Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman, Egypt, Mauritania, the United States, Nigeria, Tanzania, Syria, Turkiye, Algeria, Kenya, India, Jordan, Brazil, Gambia, Vietnam, Uganda, Swaziland, Lebanon, Lesotho, Iraq, the United Kingdom, Sudan, Tunisia, Moldova, Uzbekistan, and Liberia.
The Elevate Program, which serves both technical experts and those seeking to enter the fields of data, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, equips women with the skills necessary to pursue careers in developing markets. In accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN, the initiative also aims to close the gender gap in science.
